We
were introduced at the wedding of Tomas' cousin. We didn't start talking until
quite late in the evening as we had been spending most of the reception on the
dance floor. Tomas came to the family store a few days later to ask if I would
like to start dating. I think my father was reluctant initially but Tomas was
fairly persistent and so my father relented, and we have been together since
then.
The proposal
It
was our one year anniversary, and Tomas stopped by our house in the morning and
asked to speak to my father in private. I thought it was something to do with
the business as Tomas had been looking over the accounts. When they left my
father's study my father looked happy and Tomas seemed relieved, though again I
thought it was business related.
That
evening, Tomas had booked us into my favourite restaurant. I knew it would be a
special night and I was very much looking forward to it.
After
the main course was cleared Tomas approached the band and requested our
favourite song. He then asked me to dance.
While
the song played he held me closely and told me that he felt so lucky to have
met me. He said that he loved every minute of the day when we were together,
and that he had never met anybody who had made him feel that way before. I
started crying, it was so beautiful.
When
the music stopped he got to one knee in the middle of the dance floor, took the
ring from his pocket and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him.
Everybody
in the restaurant was watching but all I could do was cry and nod my head!! He
asked me if that was a yes and when I regained a bit of composure I managed to
say the word! Everybody in the restaurant broke into applause and the waiters
brought out some champagne.
I
was so happy, it was the most wonderful moment of my life.
We
went back home after dinner to share our news with the family. Of course, my
father had already told everyone! We stayed up most of the night celebrating.
